Passwords

May 19, 2005

How many passwords and pin numbers do you have to remember?  ATM card, creditcard, internet banking, video store card, security systems, library card, email login…the list goes on.  The thing about a password is that you have to get it exactly right before you can gain access.

How many times have you attempted to key in your password and realised that you have the ‘caPslOck’ key on?  What about your wife’s birthday…is it 180969 or 091869 or 690819? Just keep running over all of your passwords in your mind for a moment and we could potentially have a really frustrating day ahead. A password is designed to give one individual special access to a possession or privilege. Without the correct password you cannot access all that is available to you even if it belongs to you.

There are many things which belong to you that you might not be accessing.  The Lord has many wonderful things held in trust but we need the right pin number to open them. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”                                  John 14:6  If you will call upon His name then all the riches of life and peace can be yours. “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it”                                                        John 14:14  What do you need to access today?  Forgiveness, hope, joy, restoration?  They are all available if you know the password. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Cramps

May 5, 2005

I wasn’t expecting it and that made it worse… woken out of a peaceful sleep by an awful pain in my leg.  Rubbing it didn’t help, stretching didn’t really offer any relief.  The cramp had now, well and truly, woken me up.

Cramps are funny things; no definitive research has been able to ‘nail down’ the real cause of night time cramps.  Most research points to a deficiency of certain minerals which can be depleted through many hours on your feet or after lots of exercise.  When we rest, our bodies restore and rebuild and if we haven’t replenished the supplies of the items we need, then the body reacts.  The only way we can avoid this happening is to “stock up” on those things we require:  Good food; enough water; vitamins and minerals.  Our lives require balance:  a balanced diet; a balanced work & rest pattern; a balanced social life; and a balanced spiritual life.  If our lives fall out of balance in any area, then we start seeing various unwelcome symptoms.

Have a look at your life.  Do you have any ‘cramps’ which are being caused by something in your life being out of balance? Do you know how to deal with it? Or are you frantically rubbing it trying to get relief?

Jesus has the answer to whatever you need…“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5
