Fish bones

Everything was fine until the fourth mouthful at which time my wife (Narelle) started to cough and then gag as a bone from the fish we were eating lodged in her throat.

For 15 minutes she was coughing and trying to dislodge the offending obstacle. It was not nice to watch and it certainly not nice to listen to! We were both very concerned and were about to get in the car to go to hospital when we decided to see if I could reach into her mouth with a pair of tweezers. This took a great deal of trust on the part of Narelle and I had to be careful not to drop the tweezers down her throat making matters worse! But we were successful, the bone was removed and we went back to the dinner table – but we don’t think we will ever eat fish again!

Things we learnt…Little things matter. Some things you can’t do by yourself. You have to trust somebody.

Sin is like that fish bone. It can be a little thing but it is really capable of doing lasting damage. The truth is that you cannot deal with sin by yourself no matter how hard you try. You have to trust someone who has the ability to remove it from you.

The Bible tells us that there is only one who can remove our sins. His name is Jesus…

“But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.”

1 John 3:5
